Anais gets a haircut

Yes, at 3 years old, little Anais got her first haircut. I'll admit she did not get much cut off but a few hairs were getting a bit long. She was scared at first but once she saw Ellen sit in the chair, she wanted to join her.

Chillin' on the deck

Hannibal

Nicolas has recently discovered the taste of human flesh and we are afraid he might actually like it! He took a nice bite out of poor Dylan - his main target - and right on his cheek. No doubt a sign of things to come.

Our garden

Ellen enjoys eating basil from our little garden. I think the zucchini plant is taking over, though. Who knew it would get so big so fast. Maybe it has something to do with the high levels of chemicals in the soil!

Summer!

To celebrate the first day of summer we had a family bbq and Anais enjoyed her corn on the cob. Yummy!!!

Born to climb

The boys may not be walking yet (thankfully) but they love to climb. Dylan has mastered the stairs, the ledge on the bathtub and even the hearth on the fireplace. Nicolas is following close behind. Great fun for everyone :-)

A VERY big girl!

Anais is now potty trained! It took her about a week to master the toilet but she is now very comfortable with it. She quickly learned to yell "PeePee" and run to the potty as fast as she could. She makes it most every time!

Happy Father's Day!

We had a nice Father's Day here although Shawn still managed to mow the lawn in the heat of the day, make a delicious Jambalaya for dinner and watch the kiddies so I could go for a bike ride in the morning. Next time I complain about the hype around Mother's Day, you'll have to remind me that Shawn gets the same treatment on "his" day. I did make brunch and a cherry tart for after dinner :-) But apparently it's the poor children that get the shortest end of the stick. Ellen was helping me with the tart and very thoughtfully said "So today is Father's Day and there is Mother's Day. When is Kid's Day?" I told her everyday but she didn't buy it. Then Jenny told us that in fact June 1st is Kid's Day in Germany. The kid's didn't even get their day! Oh, the injustice!!!

Family Day

Today was Family Day at Shawn's work and it was quite the event. The kids enjoyed games, 2 moonbounces, a magician, face painter and balloon artist, and lots of food, treats and even goody bags. They got to see Shawn's office and have a tour of the facility. The downside... 98F with extreme humidity. I spent a lot of time in the cafeteria with the boys :-) Here's a couple photos of the face painting fun. The woman was really good!

Fun with science

Part of family day was several demonstrations in the lab where the research and development scientists do their work. The kids got to see how to make ice cream with liquid nitrogen and made their own playdough from scratch - Ellen blue and Anais green. Ellen also looked at some onion cells through a microscope.

Mad Scientist!

Dylan is very anxious to get an ice cream bar of his own.

School Picnic

Ellen and Anais had their school picnic on Tuesday which marked the end of the school year. It was a bit crazy in the park that day with 150+ kids running around and lots of parents, grandparents, etc. They brought in an animal lady and an ice cream truck! The summer has FINALLY arrived!

Water fun

Here's a video of the girls playing on the water slide that Anais got for her birthday. It's Anais's first go.
